1. How to Update a Devclick Theme

Please note: if you have edited the theme files directly, you will lose these changes when you update the theme. All theme files should be edited using a child theme.

There are a few ways you can update your theme.

1. Using the Envato Market plugin which is bundled with the theme. Here's a fantastic article on how to get that set up: http://www.wpexplorer.com/envato-market-plugin-guide/. Scroll down to the section titled Envato Market Plugin Setup.

2. For advanced users you can overwrite the theme via FTP.

3. Another way to update the theme and probably the easiest is to simply activate another theme (Twenty Seventeen is fine).

Delete the current version of your theme (don't worry, you will NOT lose any data unless you have edited the theme files directly).

Next install and activate the updated version of the theme as you would any other theme.

You will now have the latest version of your theme installed and activated.

If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to submit a ticket.

2. Changing Text for Featured Page Widget

The featured page widget can display 120 character from one of two places. Either from the excerpt or the first 120 characters from the featured page.

If you installed one of the demos the featured pages will be using the excerpt. By default, the excerpt field is hidden and it will need to be enabled so you can change the 120 characters.

To enable the excerpt field head over to the featured page and click on Screen Options in the top right and ensure Excerpt is checked (illustrated below):

Once Excerpt is checked the excerpt edit panel will appear at the bottom of the edit page (illustrated below):

You can add a maximum of 120 characters here.

If you do not add any characters here the first 120 characters in the page will be displayed in the featured page widget instead.

If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to submit a ticket.

3. How to Update Advanced Custom Fields Plugin

After you have updated your theme you will notice the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin may still need to be updated.

This is because the ACF plugin is a premium plugin and is bundled with the theme. The plugin still needs to be updated after a theme update.

To update the ACF plugin please follow the steps below:

1. Head over to Plugins > Installed Plugins.

2. Deactivate the Advanced Custom Fields plugin (don't worry you will NOT lose any data, unless you've edited the files directly).

3. Click on Update Required.

4. Click on Update.

5. Reactivate the Advanced Custom Fields plugin.

You will now have the latest version of the ACF plugin installed and activated.

If you run into any issues, please do not hesitate to submit a ticket.
